Sapper’s Hideout UI and TEC1 Overwatch Bot

This Privacy Policy explains how David Claman, an individual operating the Sapper’s Hideout UI and TEC1 Overwatch Bot (“Operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information.

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • The Sapper’s Hideout user interface;
  • Desktop applications, launchers, and overlays associated with the Sapper’s Hideout community;
  • The TEC1 Overwatch Discord bot;
  • Connected websites and web interfaces;
  • Discord, Steam, SCUM, Whalleybot, and game-server integrations operated by us; and
  • Related administrative, account-linking, ranking, role-management, server-status, and community services.

Together, these are called the “Services.”

By accessing, installing, authorizing, connecting to, or using the Services, you acknowledge the information practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who Operates the Services

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy covers information processed directly through the Services.

It does not control information processed independently by third-party services such as:

  • Discord;
  • Steam or Valve;
  • SCUM or Gamepires;
  • Whalleybot;
  • Website or application hosting providers;
  • Game-server hosting providers; or
  • Other services you choose to connect.

Those providers process information under their own privacy policies, terms, settings, and security practices.

3. Information We May Collect

The information collected depends on which Services and features you use.

3.1 Discord account information

When you interact with or authorize the TEC1 Overwatch Bot or another Discord-connected feature, we may receive:

  • Discord User ID;
  • Discord username;
  • Display name;
  • Avatar;
  • Discord server or guild ID;
  • Server membership status;
  • Discord roles;
  • Channel permissions;
  • Interaction and command information;
  • Account-linking status;
  • Voice-channel state, such as whether you joined or left a channel;
  • Authorization information provided through Discord OAuth; and
  • Other information made available through the permissions you approve.

We do not intentionally collect your Discord password.

Discord authentication is handled by Discord. You should never provide your Discord password directly to the Operator, the UI, or the bot.

3.2 Steam and game-account information

When you connect a Steam account, SCUM identity, or game-server record, we may process:

  • SteamID;
  • Steam display name;
  • SCUM player name;
  • Character name;
  • Player identification number;
  • Account-linking status;
  • Link codes;
  • Squad or faction information;
  • Server membership status; and
  • Other account identifiers needed to identify the correct player.

We do not intentionally collect your Steam password.

3.3 Game and community activity information

Depending on enabled features, we may process:

  • Fame points;
  • Coins or other server currency;
  • Rank and progression information;
  • Kills and deaths;
  • Lockpicking activity;
  • In-game time;
  • Login and logout timestamps;
  • Character status;
  • Event participation;
  • Leaderboard results;
  • Bounties;
  • Rewards;
  • Black Market access status;
  • Role eligibility;
  • Administrative actions;
  • Command results;
  • Moderation history;
  • Server-rule violations; and
  • Other activity recorded by the Sapper’s Hideout game server.

This information concerns your activity within the Sapper’s Hideout community and does not represent your complete Steam or gaming history.

3.4 Command and interaction information

When you interact with the UI or bot, we may record:

  • Commands submitted;
  • Buttons or menu selections;
  • Command parameters;
  • Date and time of the interaction;
  • Whether the command succeeded or failed;
  • The server, channel, or account associated with the request;
  • Administrative actions;
  • Role changes;
  • Error messages; and
  • Responses generated by the Services.

Command logging may be necessary for security, troubleshooting, moderation, and accountability.

3.5 Technical and diagnostic information

The Services may automatically process limited technical information, including:

  • Application version;
  • Operating system;
  • Device type;
  • Connection date and time;
  • Error reports;
  • Crash reports;
  • Diagnostic logs;
  • Network request information;
  • Approximate connection location derived from an IP address;
  • IP address when provided by a connected game server, hosting provider, or security log;
  • Authentication failures;
  • Security events; and
  • Information needed to detect abuse or unauthorized access.

We do not use IP addresses to track your physical movements.

3.6 Information you provide directly

We may collect information you voluntarily provide through:

  • Support requests;
  • Bug reports;
  • Appeals;
  • Account-linking requests;
  • Privacy requests;
  • Feedback;
  • Community reports;
  • Direct messages sent to an authorized support account;
  • Administrative forms; and
  • Other communications with the Operator or authorized moderators.

Do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary to resolve a specific issue.

3.7 Voice-channel information

The TEC1 Overwatch Bot may process basic voice-channel information when necessary to provide an enabled voice feature, such as:

  • Voice channel ID;
  • Server ID;
  • User ID;
  • Join or leave status;
  • Connection status; and
  • Technical errors related to voice-channel access.

The Services are not intended to secretly record, store, transcribe, or analyze the contents of voice conversations.

If a future feature records or transcribes audio, we will provide a separate notice and request any consent required by applicable law before activating that feature.

4. How We Collect Information

We may collect information:

  • Directly from you;
  • Through the Sapper’s Hideout UI;
  • Through your interactions with TEC1 Overwatch;
  • Through Discord OAuth and Discord APIs;
  • From Steam account information you choose to connect;
  • From SCUM game-server records and logs;
  • From Whalleybot or another authorized linking service;
  • From website and application infrastructure;
  • From authorized administrators and moderators;
  • From security and diagnostic systems; and
  • From other community systems used to operate the Services.

5. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • Authenticate Users;
  • Link Discord and Steam identities;
  • Identify the correct SCUM player;
  • Display player or server information;
  • Execute requested commands;
  • Provide UI, launcher, overlay, or bot functions;
  • Display server status;
  • Show player counts; and
  • Maintain account connections.

5.2 Assign roles and access

We may use information to:

  • Assign or remove Discord roles;
  • Verify fame requirements;
  • Determine Black Market access;
  • Grant or restrict channel access;
  • Confirm community eligibility;
  • Manage administrative permissions;
  • Apply rank or progression rules; and
  • Update roles when player information changes.

5.3 Operate leaderboards and community features

We may use and display information to:

  • Create lockpicking leaderboards;
  • Display player rankings;
  • Publish event results;
  • Display achievements;
  • Show fame, rank, or progression;
  • Operate competitions;
  • Announce rewards; and
  • Recognize community activity.

5.4 Maintain security and prevent misuse

We may use information to:

  • Detect unauthorized access;
  • Prevent account impersonation;
  • Investigate manipulated statistics;
  • Detect command abuse;
  • Prevent role or reward exploitation;
  • Enforce bans and restrictions;
  • Protect bot credentials and infrastructure;
  • Investigate suspected cheating or fraud; and
  • Protect Users, administrators, and connected systems.

5.5 Moderate the community

We may use information to:

  • Investigate reports;
  • Enforce community rules;
  • Review administrative activity;
  • Resolve disputes;
  • Apply warnings, restrictions, or bans;
  • Correct mistaken or unauthorized rewards;
  • Review appeals; and
  • Preserve evidence of serious misconduct.

5.6 Troubleshoot and improve the Services

We may use information to:

  • Diagnose errors;
  • Investigate failed commands;
  • Repair account links;
  • Improve reliability;
  • Test updates;
  • Identify compatibility issues;
  • Monitor system performance; and
  • Develop new features.

6. Automated Processing

The Services may automatically compare information from Discord, Steam, Whalleybot, SCUM server records, APIs, databases, and configuration files.

Automated processing may be used to:

  • Link accounts;
  • Assign or remove Discord roles;
  • Determine fame-based eligibility;
  • Grant Black Market access;
  • Update ranks;
  • Generate leaderboards;
  • Restrict features;
  • Detect inconsistent account information; and
  • identify possible misuse.

Automated systems can produce incorrect results because of delayed data, incorrect account links, unavailable APIs, configuration errors, incomplete logs, or software defects.

You may contact the Operator to request a review of an automated action. A review does not guarantee that the result will be changed.

7. Information Displayed to Other Users

Some information may be visible to other members of the Sapper’s Hideout community.

Public or community-visible information may include:

  • Discord username or display name;
  • Discord avatar;
  • SCUM player or character name;
  • Discord roles;
  • Fame level;
  • Rank;
  • Achievements;
  • Leaderboard position;
  • Lockpicking results;
  • Event participation;
  • Rewards;
  • Bounty information;
  • Server access status; and
  • Other community activity intended for public display.

We do not intend to publicly display:

  • Your password;
  • Authentication tokens;
  • Private support communications;
  • Full IP address;
  • Private administrative credentials; or
  • Information that is not reasonably necessary for a public community feature.

Leaving the Discord server or unlinking your account may remove future displays but may not automatically remove older announcements, screenshots, rankings, moderation records, or messages already posted.

8. When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information for money.

We do not use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

We may share information in the following circumstances.

8.1 Connected service providers

Information may be transmitted to or received from:

  • Discord;
  • Steam or Valve;
  • SCUM-related systems;
  • Whalleybot;
  • Game-server services;
  • Website hosts;
  • Database providers;
  • Application hosting providers;
  • Error-logging providers; and
  • Security or infrastructure providers.

These providers may independently process information under their own privacy policies.

8.2 Authorized administrators and moderators

Authorized Sapper’s Hideout administrators or moderators may receive information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Perform assigned duties;
  • Resolve support requests;
  • Investigate misconduct;
  • Review administrative commands;
  • Correct player records;
  • Manage roles and access; or
  • Protect community security.

Administrators and moderators are not authorized to use User information for unrelated personal purposes.

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law;
  • Respond to a valid court order, subpoena, or legal process;
  • Protect the Operator’s legal rights;
  • Prevent fraud or unauthorized access;
  • Investigate a credible threat;
  • Protect a person from serious harm;
  • Enforce the Terms of Service; or
  • Report suspected unlawful conduct.

8.4 Transfer of the Services

If responsibility for the Services is transferred to another operator, information necessary to continue operating the Services may be transferred as part of that transition.

Users will be notified of a material ownership or control change when reasonably possible.

9. Data We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Unless required for a particular support or legal matter, we do not intentionally request:

  • Social Security numbers;
  • Government identification numbers;
  • Financial account numbers;
  • Credit or debit card information;
  • Medical records;
  • Precise GPS location;
  • Biometric identifiers;
  • Discord passwords;
  • Steam passwords;
  • Private authentication codes;
  • Unrelated private messages;
  • Contents of voice conversations; or
  • Information about your activity outside connected Sapper’s Hideout services.

Do not send this information through the bot, UI, Discord support channels, or community forms.

10. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Retention depends on the type of information and why it is needed.

Discord-to-Steam or Discord-to-player links may be retained while the link remains active and for a reasonable period afterward to:

  • Complete unlinking;
  • Prevent incorrect relinking;
  • Resolve disputes;
  • Protect account security; and
  • Maintain moderation records.

10.2 Command and operational logs

Command, interaction, role-change, and error logs may be retained for troubleshooting, security, and administrative accountability.

Routine logs may be deleted or overwritten through normal system operations.

10.3 Leaderboard and community records

Leaderboard results, event results, achievements, and public announcements may remain available as part of the community’s historical record unless removal is required by law or reasonably appropriate.

10.4 Moderation and security records

Records concerning bans, fraud, exploitation, threats, unauthorized access, or serious rule violations may be retained longer when necessary to protect the community or enforce restrictions.

10.5 Support communications

Support requests may be retained until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable period afterward to document the resolution and identify recurring problems.

10.6 Backups

Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted or access-restricted backups until those backups are overwritten through normal retention cycles.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete it, anonymize it, aggregate it, or allow it to be overwritten.

11. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request:

  • Confirmation of whether we process information about you;
  • Access to information associated with you;
  • Correction of inaccurate information;
  • Deletion of eligible information;
  • Unlinking of your Discord and Steam accounts;
  • Restriction of certain processing;
  • A copy of certain information in a portable format;
  • Information about categories of information collected;
  • Information about categories of recipients;
  • Review of certain automated actions; or
  • An appeal of a denied privacy request.

These rights may be limited by applicable law.

We may retain information when reasonably necessary for:

  • Security;
  • Fraud prevention;
  • Ban enforcement;
  • Legal compliance;
  • Dispute resolution;
  • Protection of other Users;
  • Exercise or defense of legal claims; or
  • Completion of a request you initiated.

How to submit a request

Do not send your password.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

12. Account Unlinking

You may request that your Discord account be unlinked from your Steam or SCUM player record.

Unlinking may result in:

  • Removal of Discord roles;
  • Loss of Black Market access;
  • Loss of fame-based permissions;
  • Removal from linked-account features;
  • Inability to use certain commands; and
  • Loss of access to features that require identity verification.

Unlinking does not necessarily delete:

  • Moderation records;
  • Security records;
  • Previously published leaderboard results;
  • Prior public announcements;
  • Discord messages;
  • Records retained by third-party providers; or
  • Information required to prevent abuse.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process.

Safeguards may include:

  • Restricted administrative access;
  • Authentication controls;
  • Role-based permissions;
  • Protected bot tokens and API credentials;
  • Encrypted network connections where supported;
  • Logging of administrative activity;
  • Software updates;
  • Backup protections;
  • Account verification;
  • Security monitoring; and
  • Limiting information access to those who need it.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, altered, accessed, or disclosed without authorization.

You are responsible for protecting your Discord, Steam, email, computer, and game-server accounts.

Immediately report suspected account compromise, exposed credentials, unauthorized linking, or security vulnerabilities.

14. Security Incidents

If we discover a security incident involving information under our control, we may:

  • Investigate the incident;
  • Restrict affected systems;
  • Reset tokens or credentials;
  • Preserve relevant evidence;
  • Notify affected Users when appropriate or legally required;
  • Notify service providers;
  • Notify authorities when legally required; and
  • Take reasonable steps to prevent similar incidents.

Not every technical error or unsuccessful access attempt constitutes a reportable data breach.

15. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13.

Children under 13 may not use the Services or submit personal information through them.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

16. Users Outside the United States

The Services are operated from the United States.

If you use the Services from another country, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or another location where a connected service provider operates.

Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.

Where legally required, we will rely on an appropriate legal basis for processing, which may include:

  • Providing requested Services;
  • Legitimate operational or security interests;
  • Compliance with legal obligations; or
  • Your consent.

17. California and Other State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws.

Depending on the law and whether it applies to the Services, these rights may include:

  • Deleting eligible personal information;

We do not sell personal information for monetary compensation.

We do not use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

Because privacy-law coverage often depends on business size, revenue, processing volume, location, and type of activity, not every state-law right will apply in every circumstance.

18. Cookies and Website Technologies

The Sapper’s Hideout website or web-based UI may use limited cookies, local storage, session identifiers, or similar technologies to:

  • Maintain an authenticated session;
  • Remember settings;
  • Protect against unauthorized access;
  • Operate website features;
  • Measure basic performance;
  • Prevent abuse; and
  • Diagnose errors.

We do not use these technologies for third-party behavioral advertising.

Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent some website features from working.

19. Desktop Application and Local Files

The Sapper’s Hideout UI or launcher may access files and directories on your computer when necessary to:

  • Locate SCUM;
  • Detect installed mods;
  • Read the mod manifest;
  • Install or remove authorized mod files;
  • Start SCUM;
  • Store local settings;
  • Check application versions; and
  • Diagnose errors.

The application should access only locations reasonably necessary for its functions.

The application is not intended to search unrelated personal documents or upload unrelated files.

Information stored locally on your computer remains subject to the security of your device and Windows account.

The UI, bot, website, or Discord server may contain links to third-party websites, mod pages, downloads, or services.

We are not responsible for the privacy, content, security, or availability of third-party services.

Review the privacy policy and terms of a third-party service before providing information or downloading software.

21. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when:

  • Features change;
  • New integrations are added;
  • Information practices change;
  • Security practices change;
  • Legal requirements change;
  • Third-party platforms change their requirements; or
  • Clarifications are needed.

The updated policy will include a revised “Last Updated” date.

Material changes may be announced through:

  • The Sapper’s Hideout UI;
  • The TEC1 Overwatch Bot;
  • The Sapper’s Hideout Discord server;
  • The Sapper’s Hideout website;
  • Email; or
  • Another reasonable notice method.

Continued use after the effective date of an updated policy means the updated policy will apply to future use and processing, subject to any additional consent required by law.

22. Relationship to the Terms of Service

This Privacy Policy should be read together with the Sapper’s Hideout UI and TEC1 Overwatch Bot Terms of Service.

If there is a conflict concerning privacy or data-handling practices, this Privacy Policy controls unless applicable law requires otherwise.
